Tousled Hair For Fall 2016

Tousled Hair For Fall 2016

Posted on Posted in Styles

As Autumn approaches, you’re pulling out your leggings, scarves, and sweaters and dreaming of Pumpkin Spice lattes. And what hairstyle goes perfectly with all that cozy cuteness? Perfectly tousled bedhead that screams cool-girl chic.

Well if it was easy to look like an it-girl, everyone would do it. Surprise: it is freakin’ easy. All you need to do is read on.

The Fine Line Between Bedhead-Chic and Just…Bedhead

Achieving perfectly tousled, runway-ready hair instead of looking like you actually just rolled out of bed is an art.  Luckily, all you need to do is spend a few minutes on Pinterest and you’ll have plenty of inspiration—it-girls like Alexa Chung and Cara Delavigne have been rocking this look for a while.

You want the perfect mix of pretty polish and messy texture, and most importantly, you want to look like you didn’t try too hard to get it.

How To Achieve Perfectly Tousled Tresses

First Things First

Being one step closer to getting Cara Delevigne hair starts in the shower. When you wash your hair, make sure to use a volumizing shampoo to help get the texture you absolutely need for this look.

And pro-tip: don’t use too much conditioner. The lighter your hair is, the better texture you’ll get. You don’t want your conditioner to weigh down your locks.

Ditch The Dryer

For this look, you need to drop the hair dryer and instead, towel-dry your hair. This gives you more volume and texture and skips the usual glossy polish of a blow-dry.

Time To Style

Now’s where we get to the good stuff.

  • Flip your hair upside down and spray some salt spray or volumizing spray throughout the ends.

If your hair is naturally a little wild and textured, you can probably just call it a day at this point and walk out the door (lucky you!) But if not, there’s a few more steps to styling this hair look.

  • Heat up your curling iron and wrap random sections around it for a few seconds.

Don’t let the curls look too perfect or uniform. You can also create bends in your hair using a straightening iron. You kind of want to look like you curled your hair last night before you went out and didn’t have time to restyle it this morning.

Finishing Touches

And last but not least, rough up your hair with your fingers, pulling apart the curls and giving your locks some lived-in texture. Spritz with some hairspray and you’re all set!

This look is perfect for any style or length of hair. Bob, shoulder-length and long-haircuts can all pull this off perfectly. But if you’re feeling like you need a change heading into Fall 2016, then call The Hair Studio and set up an appointment today with one of our amazing hair stylists!
